If you follow me on Twitter, you will have noticed my ceaseless, and seemingly hopeless, quest to get my better half a ticket to 49M Rocking The Daisies. I hate begging, but i feel like that’s all i’ve been doing for the past few weeks or so. I think i entered every single RTD competition out there. I’ve given away so many prizes in my lifetime… both on air, at MC gigs, on this blog, etc… but i am yet to win anything. I always seem to have to try and hustle my way into everything. They should rename Cape Town, “Hustle City”.
Anyhoo, for those of you that are SUPER amped for RTD… here is everything you need to know ahead of the festival.
MAPS MAPS MAPS MAPS (sung to the tune of SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS…) I would suggest taking a snap of this here map on your cellphone so you can refer back to it during RTD. It’s also nicely coloured in and drawn for kids… so even your drunken ass should be able to decipher it mid trip 🙂
I’m a Virgin Daisy-ite… HOW THE EFF DO I GET THERE?! Have no fear, here are the directions from Cape Town:
Take N7 to Malmesbury and follow the signs to Darling. Turn left off main road, after brief double-back; turn right at T-junction (onto R315). Cross one railway line and after about 10km you’ll cross a 2nd railway line. Immediately after this, on the left, is Darling Cellars. Turn left in front of Darling Cellars, following signs to Cloof Wine Estate along the dirt road.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE MAJOR ROADWORKS ON ROUTE TO THE FESTIVAL, SO EXPECT DELAYS OR TAKE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE INSTEAD.
Take the R27 towards Atlantis. Following signs to Atlantis, take the Dassenberg Road to the right. Continue past Atlantis industrial, until you reach a T-Junction with the R304. Turn left towards Mamre. Continue past Mamre, until you reach the Malmesbury Road (R315) and turn right. Continue until you reach Darling Cellars and turn right before the railway tracks onto dirt. Follow the signs to Cloof Wine Estate for 6km.
Or just use your Maps App on your phone… unless you upgraded to iOS6, in which case, you might end up at Oppikoppi.
